ToyBoi (2024)
Toyboi is an artistic project created by Emily Hsiang-Yun Huang, Claudia Oliveira, Gema FB Martín and Lotte Louise de Jong in the context of CODE 2024. The project interrogates the patriarchal structures of deepnude technology and their implications. Deepnudes are often created using undressing tools, readily available through apps, websites, forums and other social media. With these tools you can ‘undress’ anyone in seconds by uploading a picture, or even video, to a server. This often happens without consent of the subject of the image. While the tools effectively strip female bodies, they often fail to un- dress men, resulting in images with distorted and deformed genita- lia. This is caused by biased databases and infrastructures on which these tools are built. By showcasing the challenge of generating nude male images, the project invites reflection on how AI imag- ery commodifies bodies. It underscores women’s vulnerability to non-consensual image use and exploitation. Read more on the project on http://www.toyboi.click/
